Bridges
Bridges are used to replace one or more missing teeth. They consist of two or more crowns fitted to the natural teeth on each side of the gap, with an artificial tooth attached in the middle.
Bridges are usually made of gold alloy or porcelain, which can be manufactured to match the colour of the surrounding natural teeth. A tooth bridge is the perfect permanent solution to replacing missing teeth as they do not need to be removed for cleaning and can last you a lifetime if well looked after.
Another permanent solution for replacing missing teeth are implants. Consult with one of our St John Dental practitioners, and we will determine the best dental solution for your teeth and budget.
Porcelain Crowns & Veneers
Dental porcelain crowns are used to restore teeth that may have been subject to extensive decay, trauma (broken), root therapy or fluorosis. A crown tooth is made of porcelain, similar to veneers, and they look every bit as natural.
Crowns are extremely versatile and can be used to align crowding or protruding teeth, close gaps or lighten tooth colour. The strength and appearance of dental porcelain crowns rival that of natural teeth, and they are used to make permanent improvements to your mouth. These replacements are comfortable and long lasting, meaning that after a while no one, not even you, will know you have them.
Veneers are used to treat slightly misaligned, misshaped, chipped and discoloured teeth. They are thin, tooth-coloured porcelain restorations, which are permanently attached using dental bonding to cover the front of your teeth, changing the size, shape or colour, depending on your requirements.
Veneers are a more conservative option than a crown and can be used as an alternative if the underlying tooth is healthy and strong. In all cases, a consult with your St John Dental practitioner will determine if veneers are suitable for you.
